White remains white, but this season it rarely stands alone. In the newest collections colour arrives as a suggestion rather than a statement: a blush underlayer beneath tulle, a warm coffee shadow in the lace, a pale blue ribbon hidden at the waist. These are shades barely noticed from across a room, yet daylight and photographs record them faithfully.
Colour that reveals itself slowly
The principle is simple. The outer layer stays white and the colour withdraws beneath it, so that tulle or organdie let just enough tone through to give the gown depth and the skin warmth. Instead of one flat white surface, you get a fabric that shifts as you move.
- Blush underlayers – a barely-there pink or peach base that softens the face.
- Coffee and sand tones – a discreet shadow in lace that draws out the pattern.

Colour cannot be judged on the hanger. A shade that looks perfect under warm indoor light can disappear in midday sun, and a blush tone that lifts one bride may take the contrast away from another.
