What brides ask us most
Answers to the questions brides ask before a first fitting — how an appointment runs, and how collecting and returning a gown works.
The fitting
Do I need an appointment?
An appointment is strongly preferred — the time you book is yours alone, with no waiting. If you arrive unannounced and a slot is free we will look after you just the same, but a booked bride takes priority.
How long does a fitting take?
Usually between one hour and an hour and a half.
How many gowns may I try on?
There is no limit. Early on it helps to try quite different shapes — brides often find that a cut they never considered is the one.
Who should I bring?
Your closest friend and a family member whose opinion you trust. One or two people is ideal; too many opinions tend to confuse rather than help.
May I take photographs during the fitting?
Photography is not allowed. It takes time away from trying gowns on, and a photograph cannot convey how a dress feels or the fine details you see in person.
How long does choosing usually take?
It varies. Our consultants guide you with suggestions so you reach the gown that suits you sooner.
When is the final fitting?
Seven to ten days before the wedding.
Reserving and paying
How much does a gown cost?
The price of each gown is discussed personally, at your fitting — it depends on the model and on whether you rent or buy. Get in touch and we will gladly talk it through.
What is included with the gown?
A hair piece, veil, bolero, fur stole, belt, favour baskets, ring cushion and a garter as a gift. Cleaning after the wedding is included too.
When should I reserve?
As soon as you have booked your venue. That way the widest choice of gowns is still free for your date.
How does payment work?
Before the wedding you pay only a reservation, with the balance afterwards. Instalments are also possible — we arrange it around what suits you.
Can I order a gown from a catalogue?
Yes, to buy. Delivery takes up to 90 days, so it is worth allowing for that when you plan.
The gowns
What sizes do you carry?
Sizes 34 to 44.
Do you have gowns for expectant brides?
We do — from classic empire cuts to gowns whose draping adapts beautifully over the bump.
Do you make gowns to measure?
Not at present. We do alterations and fitting adjustments on gowns from our collection.
Do you buy gowns back?
No, we do not.
Collecting and returning
When do I collect the gown?
Two days before the wedding.
When is it returned?
The Monday after the wedding, or two days later if the wedding was not at a weekend.
Can I take it earlier or return it later for a photo shoot?
If the gown is not booked the weekend before or after, we can usually arrange it.
Can someone else return the gown?
Yes, without any trouble.
Should I have it cleaned first?
No — cleaning is included in the rental.
What if the gown is damaged?
Minor damage is not charged for. Significant damage may be, but such cases are very rare.
